Rules and decision outcomes
Last updated: 2025–03-11
Rules define conditions and actions applied during underwriting. Decision outcomes define the possible results (e.g. Approved, Denied, Refer, Pending) that can be assigned to an application.
Rules
Rules are typically built from conditions (e.g. credit score above X, DTI below Y) and actions (e.g. set decision, assign offer table, set next step).
- Open Rules Studio (or Workflows → Rules Studio).
- View the list of rules. Open a rule to see or edit its conditions and actions.
- Create a new rule: add name, conditions, and actions, then save.
- Edit an existing rule: change conditions or actions and save. Order of rules may matter (e.g. first match wins).
Rules run during underwriting; their results appear on the application underwriting view.
Decision outcomes
Decision outcomes are the possible end states of a decision (e.g. Approved, Denied, Refer to manual, Pending more info). They are often referenced by rules (“if X then set outcome to Approved”).
- In Rules Studio (or the related area), open Decision outcomes.
- View the list of outcomes. You may see name, code, and whether they’re in use.
- Create a new outcome if your workflow needs an additional result type.
- Edit an existing outcome to change label or code. Avoid changing codes that are already used in rules or reports.
Use rules and outcomes together to define your underwriting and decision flow.
